Global Summit for Human Rights Advocacy Held in Colombo

Sunil Goyal, COLOMBO: The International Voice for Human Rights Development (IVHRD) successfully hosted the Global Summit for Human Rights Advocacy at the BMICH, with the participation of diplomats, legal experts, community leaders and human rights advocates from across the globe.

The evening commenced with a cultural performance and the ceremonial lamp lighting, graced by dignitaries including the Chief Guest, the Deputy Ambassador of Indonesia to Sri Lanka, President’s Counsel Hon. Sarath Wijesinghe, Prince Amithab of the Chola Dynasty, Dr. Sushma S. Aradhya, Mr. Rajkumar Kanagasingam, President of the Fintech Association of Sri Lanka, Mr. Hiran Wijesinghe, Founder of Reliance Innovation, Dr. Rachitha Buddhika and other distinguished leaders. Delegates from India and senior representatives from Port City Colombo also attended, further strengthening the international scope of the summit.

In his opening address, Mr. Ragu Indrakumar, President of IVHRD, emphasized the organization’s vision of fostering unity and dialogue to advance human rights and peace globally.

The panel discussion on “Human Rights and Global Diplomacy in the 21st Century” was a highlight of the summit. Esteemed panelists, including President’s Counsel Hon. Sarath Wijesinghe and Mr. Rajkumar Kanagasingam, shared valuable insights on the intersections of diplomacy, justice and international cooperation in addressing today’s challenges.

Another key moment was the appointment of Honourary Directors, Human Rights Defenders and Global Peace Ambassadors 2025, recognizing individuals dedicated to protecting dignity, justice and peace worldwide. From India, Mr. Sunil Goyal, Senior Freelance Journalist from Gwalior, was appointed as Global Peace Ambassador, further enhancing India’s representation at the global platform.

The summit also featured the launch of the publication “Foreign Policy Perspectives on Human Rights Development and the New World Order 22/25”, edited by Ambassador Sarath Wijesinghe and Amila Wijesinghe, offering timely perspectives on diplomacy and governance.
